It's so nice to meet you.

I'M STEFANIE.

I am a deeply nostalgic person.

Some people take occasional strolls down memory lane. I own property there. For me, reminiscing is about more than reveling in the glory days; it's about supplying context for the present and anchoring me more firmly in who I am.

That's why I love photography. Photographs are visible memories. They provide color to vague recollections, then smells, sounds, and sensations as the details of those frozen moments come flooding back. They capture past versions of yourself that will stand the test of time, versions that you can pull out and look at when you need a reminder of who you used to be and who you are now.

When I bought my camera, I did so with the intention of capturing memories for myself. I wanted to document my travels and time spent with friends and family. Almost immediately though, something remarkable happened. People started asking me to capture their memories, and I fell in love with the knowledge that I could offer others such a sacred gift.

Now, photography is one of my favorite ways to make new memories. I couldn't ask for anything more fulfilling than that.

MY APPROACH

I know that it can feel awkward or intimidating to welcome someone new into your story, especially when they're holding a big camera and capturing so many intimate moments. With that in mind, I try to stay fairly quiet when shooting, offering gentle guidance and affirmation throughout, but mostly trying to make you forget about me altogether and focus on each other and the present moment. People often describe my presence as calming and gentle. If you're someone who responds well to wallflower energy rather than life of the party energy - mind you, a wallflower who still gets in the thick of the action - I hope my style can be a comfort to you.
